Anderson Paak- Ventura (Full Album Review)
As hard as it is to believe I wouldn’t say that I am someone who likes to listen to music. I prefer to have silence when I’m working out, on my commute or generally another popular times people will listen to music. I will play music to dance and if I want to be put in a certain mood. For example if I’m feeling insecure I will listen to music with uplifting lyrics and if I’m lonely, then love songs etc.
I’ve never reviewed an album before but my husband shared a few albums that he wanted me to listen to and so I’ve decided to give them a try. My strategy for the album review is to listen to the album about 3 times and listen for different details in each play.
The first play of the album I’m just going to listen to the overall feeling of the album. I’m going to listen to how the album makes me feel, what stood out immediately to me in what I liked and disliked.
The second play I’m going to listen to the lyrics, beat, instruments etc.
The third play I’m going to give each song a rating out of 5. Based off the following:
- Vibe and Feel
- Replay Value
- Lyrics
- Beats/Instruments
- Artistry

I loved, LOVED the overall vibe of this album. It was intimate. Every song felt like I was on a date with someone I loved just enjoying each other’s light. I always love when music has real instruments and I feel like listening to live music and bands is the best way to listen to listen to music. It helps you feel the music and feel like Anderson Paak not only understands that, but has encompassed that in this album.
I listen to music based off what I’m currently feeling and I’d listen to this album regardless of my mood.
Chosen One is by far my favourite song on the album and I went back and played it twice immediately on the first play.
Some of my favourite lyrics from the song:
We should be lovin’ each other crazy
We shouldn’t wait ’til the day our days are through
Chosen One
To label me as the one, debatable
But second to none, that suit me like a tailored suit
Chosen One
Some of my favourite lyrics from the album:
I’m beggin’ you, please, come home
No one even begs anymore
Come Home
If I ever take this life for granted, you showed me just how dumb
Yada Yada
