Bike The Creek 2022

Yesterday I participated in Bike The Creek. This event was the 8th annual ride through Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. It’s a cycling event for all ages and fitness level and it was FUN. This year it attracted over 1300 cyclists.

For details on the event you can click here, but in summary there were 6 different distances. There was 5km and12km family ride’s, 27km nature ride, 30km Brampton loop ride, 61km Caledon town ride and 65km Bramalea-Mississauga ride. I joined the 30km loop ride and rode my bike to and from the event.

The people there were amazing and it was fun to meet everyone and get lost together as we the explored the city trails, climbs hills, and enjoyed views of the city.

Etobicoke Creek Trail had a lot of hills! I don’t know if I lost more of my fitness than I thought since I was sick and unable to train recently, but after the event my legs were HURTING. At one point my husband had to pick me up and carry me to the couch because I couldn’t put weight on my leg.

I went off course when I followed a group going the wrong direction so my total course distance is 32.30 km. I rode my bike to the event and home so my total distance is just under 50km.

Next year I’m going to be sure to bring the whole family. I’ll likely attempt the longest distance earlier in the morning and then come back for the kids to ride and at burgers. It was a will organized event and I’m already excited for Bike the Creek 2023!
